Arrindell received Herbert Martina, Founder and Director of the Carib-Lens Creations Foundation, at the Cabinet of the Minister Plenipotentiary in The Hague. During the meeting, Martina presented the Foundation's work in documenting, researching, and preserving St. Maarten's history and identity through documentary filmmaking, publications, education, and community engagement. He also shared the Foundation's long-term vision for the proposed Soualiga House Knowledge Center, an initiative envisioned as a central repository for St. Maarten's historical records, genealogy, oral histories, academic research, and other cultural resources. KPSM INVESTIGATES SUNDAY MORNING STABBING INCIDENT. FEMALE IN SERIOUS CONDITION. ONE WOMAN ARRESTED
SINT MAARTEN (GREAT BAY) - The Police Force of Sint Maarten (KPSM) is currently investigating a stabbing incident that occurred on Sunday, August 9, 2026, shortly after 6:00 a.m. on Bush Road, in the vicinity of a restaurant. The KPSM Central Dispatch Center received several calls reporting that a stabbing had taken place in the area. Several patrol units, along with ambulance personnel, were immediately dispatched to the location. Upon arrival, officers encountered a female victim who was suffering from several stab wounds to her upper body. The victim was attended to at the scene by ambulance personnel and subsequently transported to the Sint Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) for further medical treatment. KPSM responds to traffic accident Involving ATV and pickup truck
SINT MAARTEN (GREAT BAY) - The KPSM traffic department was notified of a traffic accident involving an ATV motorcycle and a pickup truck in the vicinity of the Freedom Fighters Roundabout. Preliminary information indicates that, for reasons yet to be determined, the rider of the ATV collided with the pickup truck. The ATV- rider sustained injuries and received medical attention at the scene from ambulance personnel. His condition was reported to be stable and the injuries were not considered life-threatening. The KPSM reminds all ATV riders and operators to exercise caution and practice safe riding at all times. Responsible riding is essential to help prevent accidents and protect riders, motorists, pedestrians, and visitors alike. The circumstances surrounding the accident remain under investigation.

KPSM responds to a fire on Friday morning that destroys a small wooden house
SINT MAARTEN (MIDDLE REGION) - Today, August 7th, approximately 11:20 am the KPSM central dispatched center received several calls reporting a fire in the Middle Region area. A KPSM patrol unit responded and arrived in the vicinity of Brill Road in Middle Region, where a parcel of land was found to be on fire. Shortly thereafter, the fire department arrived and began efforts to extinguish the blaze. During the firefighting efforts, a small wooden house was destroyed before the fire could be brought under control. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The circumstances surrounding the fire are being assessed, and further information will be provided as it becomes available.
