MF and V Number Plates Now Available for Collection

SINT MAARTEN (GREAT BAY) - The Sint Maarten Tax Administration is pleased to announce that number plates within the MF and V categories, which were previously unavailable, are now ready for collection. Motorists who have already completed payment and are awaiting their plates are encouraged to visit the Receiver’s Office on Pond Island to collect them. Motorists who were issued temporary M plates are requested to return these plates in order to receive their assigned V or R number plate. To collect your number plate, motorists must present the following documents at the service window: proof of payment, valid insurance, and a valid inspection card. SINT MAARTEN (GREAT BAY, (DCOMM) – The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) has called on countries to accelerate efforts to achieve cervical cancer 2030 elimination targets in the Americas, warning that, with only five years remaining, the current pace puts reaching the goals at risk, despite progress in vaccination. Each year, over 78,000 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer in the Americas, and more than 40,000 die from the disease. Cervical cancer is a type of cancer that starts in the cervix, which is the lower, narrow part of the uterus that connects to the vagina. Almost all cases of cervical cancer are caused by persistent infection with certain high-risk types of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV), a very common sexually transmitted infection. The...

Male suspect Arrested Following Altercation on Back Street

SINT MAARTEN (GREAT BAY) - The Police Force of Sint Maarten (KPSM) is currently investigating an altercation that took place on Back Street on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, shortly after 11:00 AM. Central Dispatch received several calls reporting a disturbance in the Back-Street area. Patrol officers were immediately dispatched to the location, where they encountered an ongoing altercation involving two male individuals. Upon intervening and conducting a preliminary investigation, officers determined that the incident stemmed from a dispute regarding parking. SINT MAARTEN/CURACAO - One year after the introduction of the Caribbean guilder, the Centrale Bank van Curaçao en Sint Maarten (CBCS) looks back on a smooth transition to the new currency. As of 1 April 2026, Netherlands Antillean guilder (NAf) banknotes and coins can only be exchanged at the CBCS. Exchange at commercial banks will no longer be possible from this date. The public can continue to exchange NAf at the CBCS until 31 March 2055. On March 31st, 2025, the Caribbean guilder was officially introduced in the monetary union of Curaçao and Sint Maarten.
