Police Quick Response Team Arrests Suspect on Thursday in Connection with August 29 Shooting

SINT MAARTEN (GREAT BAY) - The Police Force of Sint Maarten (KPSM) is providing an update regarding the shooting incident that occurred on August 29, 2026, in the Sucker Garden area. On Thursday, September 3, 2026, at approximately 1:00 p.m., a male suspect identified by the initials J.A.U.R. was arrested in the Bush Road area by members of KPSM’s Quick Response Team (QRT) and the Major Crimes Team. Following his arrest, the suspect was brought to the police station and arraigned by the acting prosecutor. He remains in custody pending further investigation. The Major Crimes Team continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting and is still seeking assistance from the public. Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in Single-Vehicle Accident on Friday Passes Away

SINT MMARTEN (GREAT BAY) - The Police Force of Sint Maarten (KPSM) is investigating a single-vehicle traffic accident that occurred on Friday, September 4, 2026, at approximately 10:55 a.m. on the Octavius L. Richardson Road. The accident involved a Kawasaki Z650 motorcycle bearing license plate MF 1397. Preliminary information indicates that the motorcyclist was travelling along the Octavius L. Richardson Road from the direction of the One Tete Lohke Roundabout toward Divi Little Bay Road. For reasons that are currently unclear, the rider entered the right roadside area and subsequently collided with the guardrail with the front of the motorcycle. UPDATE: Police Responds to Student Assault. Pre-trial detention extended for two suspects following videoed student assault

SINT MAARTEN (GREAT BAY) - (UPDATE) Two suspects ages 16 and 18, were arrested in connection with the public assault of another student on L.B. Scott Road on Wednesday, September 2, 2026. Their pre-trial detention (inverzekeringstelling) was extended by the Public Prosecutor yesterday, and both their arrest and (extended) pre-trial detention, were determined to be lawful by the investigative judge of the Court on today, Friday, September 4, 2026. The incident, which occurred at the bus stop near St. Maarten Academy, was captured on video and widely circulated on social media. The footage shows a minor being physically assaulted by several individuals. Pedestrian and Scooter Rider Injured in Traffic Accident

SINT MAARTEN (GREAT BAY) - On Thursday, September 3, 2026, at approximately 5:00 a.m., a traffic accident occurred on Bishop Hill Road near streetlight #BP10, involving a pedestrian and a scooter rider. The pedestrian was walking in the direction of Belvedere. Due to the poor condition of the shoulder, he moved onto the far-right side of the roadway. At that moment, a purple Yamaha T-Max DX scooter, without a license plate, was traveling in the same direction and collided with the pedestrian. As a result of the collision, both individuals fell to the roadway and sustained injuries.
