VROMI MINISTER GUMBS RECEIVES HOUSING DEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR BELVEDERE

SINT MAARTEN (GREAT BAY) - Sint Maartener Dejon Daly, a student at the Breda University of Applied Sciences, submitted his final thesis to the Ministry of VROMI, concluding his six-month internship. Dejon’s thesis, ‘Entitled Resilience through Spatial Design’, presents scenarios for the development of Belvedere North, which was purchased by the Government earlier this year. Daly and the Minister worked closely in formulating his research question “How can urban design interventions empower Sint Maarten communities to build and maintain hurricane resilience through strategic public space, infrastructure, and neighborhood design”. He was given access to develop the recently purchased Belvedere parcel, meeting with several stakeholders throughout the Ministry of VROMI including the Policy, Infrastructure, and New Works Departments as well as the Ministry...

SINT MAARTEN (POND ISLAND) - The University of St. Martin (USM) welcomed prospective students, parents, and community members to a well-attended Information Session on Wednesday evening, June 17, where attendees had the opportunity to explore the many educational pathways available at the university.  Representatives from the Caribbean Foundation Year (CFY) Program, GED, English as a Second Language (ESL), Associate Degree Programs, Bachelor's Degree Programs, as well as the USM Business Office, provided presentations and answered questions regarding admissions requirements, tuition options, payment plans, and career opportunities.  Throughout the evening, attendees engaged directly with division heads, faculty members, coordinators, and Admissions Officer Stacey James, gaining valuable information to help guide their academic and professional goals. SINT MAARTEN (GREAT BAY) - The Police Force of Sint Maarten (KPSM) hosted a high-level coordination meeting on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at the Philipsburg Police Station, bringing together representatives from KPSM, Immigration and Border Protection Services, Customs, and other personnel within the Ministry of Justice. The session focused on developing joint strategies, improving information-sharing, and identifying areas where combined enforcement and investigative efforts can produce more effective results. Particular attention was given to joint operations, coordinated enforcement actions, information sharing and investigations that can benefit from a multi-agency approach.
