Road Works to Commence on St. James Road as Part of the Concrete Hard Resurfacing Project

SINT MAARTEN (GREAT BAY) - he Ministry of Public Housing, Spatial Planning, Environment and Infrastructure (VROMI), Department of New Works, would like to inform the public, particularly the residents of St. James Road, Middle Region that road works will commence as part of the ongoing Concrete Hard Resurfacing Project. Works are scheduled to begin on Monday, October 27th, 2025, and are expected to continue for approximately three (3) weeks, pending weather conditions and unforeseen circumstances. These works are part of the Ministry’s continued efforts to improve road infrastructure, enhance drainage, and provide safer, more durable roadways for all motorists and pedestrians. To facilitate the smooth execution of this project, St. James Road will be closed daily from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m....

SINT MAARTEN (GREAT BAY) - On Friday, October 24, the Joint Court of Justice held the soft launch of its new website, www.ghvj.org. With this first, provisional version, the Court is taking an important step towards a more modern and accessible online environment. The full multilingual version of the website will follow soon, which will be available in Papiamentu, Papiamento and English. The new website will remain under continuous development in the coming period. This will include the addition of new components, such as video material, more extensive information on different types of matters, and improvements in the field of accessibility for people with visual or hearing impairments. Two Suspects Arrested in Connection with Armed Robbery. One Firearm Confiscated

SINT MAARTEN (GREAT BAY) - The Police Force of Sint Maarten (KPSM) is continuing its investigation into the armed robbery that occurred in front of a hotel on Front Street during the early evening hours of Tuesday, October 22, 2025, and has made key arrests in the case. On Friday, October 24, 2025, detectives of KPSM spotted a vehicle matching the description of the getaway car used in the incident. The vehicle was seen driving in the Middle Region area. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the occupants attempted to flee, resulting in a brief pursuit. SINT MAARTEN (COLE BAY) - Following the overwhelming success of its inaugural event, Algemeen Pensioenfonds Sint Maarten (APS) is proud to announce the 2nd edition of the APS Walkathon: “Walking Towards a Healthy Future”, taking place on Saturday, November 29, 2025. The walk starts and ends at the APS Parking lot at the Government Administration Building. Last year’s walkathon saw over 100 enthusiastic participants come together for a morning of movement, community, and wellness. Minister of Finance Meets with APS to Discuss Key Developments

SINT MAARTEN (GREAT BAY) - On October 22, 2025, the Minister of Finance, Hon. Marinka J. Gumbs, met with APS Director Mr. Oscar Williams and Board Member Mr. Robert Jan- James. During the meeting, the representatives provided a general update on APS’s ongoing operations, investment activities, and plans for the upcoming year. The discussion also touched on the fund’s new location and corporate governance. Minister Gumbs expressed appreciation for the open dialogue, stating, “Maintaining close collaboration with APS is essential to ensuring the long-term stability of our pension system and safeguarding the interests of our pensioners.” The Minister looks forward to continued updates and cooperation with APS as part of the Government’s ongoing commitment to sound financial management and oversight.
