WEATHER:        

Tonight: Cloudy and breezy with scattered showers and a chance of isolated thunderstorms, which could produce heavy showers. 

Thursday morning through evening: Partly cloudy and breezy with isolated showers possible.

SURFACE WINDS: 
Tonight through Thursday evening: East-northeast to east with a gentle to fresh breeze of 12 to 21 mph and higher gusts.  

SYNOPSIS:       

A tropical wave moving through the Lesser Antilles will bring cloudy periods, showers, breezy conditions, and possible isolated thunderstorms across the local area.  

Marine conditions are expected to gradually deteriorate during the next 24 hours. A small craft advisory is now in effect for St. Maarten as seas are expected to peak at 9 feet, on Friday night. Small craft operators and sea bathers are advised to exercise caution.   

STATE OF THE SEA:  Moderate to Rough       WAVES/SWELLS: 6 to 8 feet  

SPECIAL FEATURES: At 5pm, Tropical Storm Watches were issued for several islands in the southern Caribbean as Potential Topical Cyclone Five, continued its speedy trek across the Atlantic. The shower and thunderstorm activity associated with this system have become better organized. This system is in a region with environmental conditions that are generally favorable for development and a tropical depression or storm could form in the next day or two.  

Interests in the Windward and Southern Leeward Islands should closely monitor this system as it will likely be moving through that region on Friday.
THE METEOROLOGICAL DEPARTMENT OF ST. MAARTEN WILL CONTINUE TO MONITOR THIS SYSTEM AND UPDATE THE PUBLIC ACCORDINGLY.
