Tonight through Tuesday evening: Partly cloudy at first, becoming cloudy and breezy with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms.

SURFACE WINDS: 
Tonight through Tuesday evening: East-northeasterly to southeasterly with a moderate to fresh breeze of 13 to 20 mph and higher gusts up to 30mph. 

  

SYNOPSIS:    

With the arrival of Potential Tropical Cyclone Six overnight: cloudy skies, gusty winds, scattered showers, and isolated thunderstorms are expected across the local area. This could lead to heavy showers, localized flooding, and rock falls. Motorists and persons utilizing low-lying areas should be vigilant, as street-flooding is likely.  

Seas are expected to peak at 9 feet through the next couple days. As a result, a small craft advisory is now in effect. Small craft operators and sea bathers should exercise caution.

WAVES/SWELLS: 6 to 9 feet  

   

SPECIAL FEATURES: 
1. The tropical wave termed Invest 94 was upgraded to Potential Tropical Cyclone Six at 5:00pm, with its center located about 370 miles SSE of St. Maarten. The center is expected to pass approximately 120 miles south of the island Tuesday morning, bringing rainfall amounts of about 1-2 inches through Wednesday.   

Residents of St. Maarten are encouraged to monitor updates from the Meteorological Department closely.   

  1. Disorganized showers and thunderstorms located several hundred miles east of the Lesser Antilles have diminished.  Development of this system is no longer expected. 

The Meteorological Department of St. Maarten will continue to monitor Potential Tropical Cyclone Six and update the public accordingly. 

OUTLOOK through Wednesday evening: Partly cloudy to cloudy and breezy with isolated showers and isolated thunderstorms possible.
