SURFACE WINDS: 
Tonight through Thursday evening: Easterly to east-northeasterly with a gentle to moderate breeze of 08 to 16 mph. 

SYNOPSIS:   

A drier air mass has settled over the region, this will lower the chances shower activity during th3 forecast period. Additionally, the Atlantic high pressure system will maintain gentle to moderate winds. 

Seas are expected to remain slight to moderate during the next few days.  

STATE OF THE SEA:  Slight to Moderate    WAVES/SWELLS: 4 to 6 feet  

SPECIAL FEATURES: 
1. A tropical wave located over the eastern tropical Atlantic, continues to produce disorganized showers and thunderstorms. Environmental conditions are expected to become gradually more conducive for development, and a tropical depression could form by early next week. This disturbance is moving generally westward across the tropical Atlantic near 20 mph. This system has the potential to affect portions of the Leeward Islands by late Saturday/early Sunday. 

2. At 5:00 pm, the center of Tropical Storm Fred was crossing over the Dominican Republic. 

Tropical Storm Fred poses no direct threat to St. Maarten. 

The Meteorological Department of St. Maarten will continue to monitor the progress of these systems and update the public accordingly.
