SURFACE WINDS: 
Tonight through Saturday evening: Easterly to Southeasterly with a light to gentle breeze of 04 to 10 mph, becoming lighter and variable at times. 

SYNOPSIS:   

An approaching tropical wave will increase the likelihood of showers during this forecast period. A weak Atlantic high pressure system will continue to generate light winds.  

Seas will remain slight to moderate during the next few days.  

STATE OF THE SEA:  Slight to moderate         WAVES/SWELLS: 4 to 6 feet  

SPECIAL FEATURE: 
At 5:00 pm, Hurricane Sam was located about 1290 miles east-southeast of  

St. Maarten, with maximum sustained winds near 85 mph with higher gusts. Additional strengthening is forecast as it moves towards the west near 12 mph and Hurricane Sam is expected to become a major hurricane on Saturday.  

The Meteorological Department of St. Maarten will continue to monitor this system and update the public accordingly. 

OUTLOOK through Sunday evening: Partly cloudy with brief isolated showers possible.
