SURFACE WINDS: 
Tonight: South southeasterly with a light breeze of 04 to 07 mph, becoming lighter and variable at times. 

Friday morning through evening: Southeasterly with a light to gentle breeze of 04 to 12 mph. 

SYNOPSIS:   

Available moisture transported across the region by light winds will cause isolated showers during this forecast period.
Seas will gradually subside as hurricane Sam continues to move further from the region. However, small craft operators and sea bathers should exercise caution. 

STATE OF THE SEA:  Moderate          WAVES/SWELLS: 5 to 7 feet  

SPECIAL FEATURES: 
1. At 5:00 pm, the center of major Hurricane Sam was located about 410 miles north northeast of St. Maarten with maximum sustained winds near 145 mph.
On its current forecast track, Sam will continue to move further from St. Maarten, toward the northwest near 14 mph. 

2. At 5:00 pm, the center of Tropical Storm Victor was located over the eastern tropical Atlantic about 2285 miles southeast of St. Maarten. Maximum sustained winds are near 45 with higher gusts.
   This system poses no threat to St. Maarten. 

The Meteorological Department of St. Maarten will continue to monitor these systems and update the public accordingly.
