SURFACE WINDS: 
Tonight through Monday evening: Easterly to southeasterly with a gentle to fresh breeze of 12 to 21 mph and higher gusts possible. 

SYNOPSIS:    

Moisture and instability in the wake of a tropical wave will cause cloudiness, showers and a chance of isolated thunderstorms tonight. Varying concentrations of Saharan dust will continue to affect air quality and visibility during the next few days. Persons with allergies or respiratory illnesses should continue taking precautions.  

Seas are forecast to peak at 8 feet tonight and subside thereafter. Accordingly, a Small Craft Advisory is in effect for St. Maarten. Small craft operators and sea bathers should continue to exercise caution.  

STATE OF THE SEA:  Moderate to Rough      WAVES/SWELLS: 6 to 8 feet   

SPECIAL FEATURE:  An active tropical wave located about 500 miles east southeast of the Windward Islands is moving west northwestward near 15 mph. This system is producing an area of cloudiness and thunderstorms and environmental conditions are expected to be marginally conducive for development during the next few days. 

OUTLOOK through Tuesday evening: Partly cloudy to cloudy, breezy and hazy with isolated showers and a chance of isolated thunderstorms.
