SURFACE WINDS:
Tonight through Saturday evening: South southwesterly to southeasterly with a moderate to strong breeze at 14 to 26 mph and occasional higher gusts.
SYNOPSIS:
Trailing bands of Tropical Storm Jerry will cause cloudiness, showers, thunderstorms and gusty winds across the region. Some of these showers may be heavy and likely lead to flooding and rock-slides. Residents and users of vulnerable and flood-prone areas are advised to be vigilant and exercise caution.
Sea conditions are expected to gradually improve as Jerry moves further from the region. However, interests along the coast, such as small craft-operators and swimmers, should continue to exercise extreme caution and take the necessary actions to preserve life and property.
STATE OF THE SEA: Moderate to rough WAVES/SWELLS: 5 to 11 feet
SPECIAL FEATURE:
At 5pm, the center of Tropical Storm Jerry was located about 230 miles north of St. Maarten. Jerry is moving north northwestward (away from St. Maarten) at 15 mph with maximum sustained winds near 50 mph.
The Meteorological Department of St. Maarten will continue to monitor the Atlantic and update the public accordingly.
