CURACAO (WILLEMSTAD) – Dutch Marines of Marine Squadron Carib and the boat platoon trained together with the Infantería de Marina Colombiana from 11 to 22 May during exercise Estribo in Colombia.
In the challenging river area near Turbo, both units worked together intensively to exchange knowledge, experience and procedures during operations on and around the water.
Colombian and Dutch marines trained side by side in a realistic scenario. The emphasis was on strengthening operational skills and further intensifying the cooperation between the two Marine Corps.
During Estribo, the Marines practiced various tactics and procedures for operations in hard-to-access terrain, such as the dense jungle along the riverbanks. The units trained, among other things, on movements over water, acting in small teams and performing operations in challenging conditions.
Both units increased their deployability and learned from each other's working methods and experiences. The training was experienced by the participants as intensive and educational.
They look back on a successful exercise, in which mutual cooperation has been further strengthened.
