Warning: fake message about home visits circulating

SABA/SINT EUSTATIUS - A message is currently circulating on social media warning about individuals allegedly posing as employees of a statistical agency to collect personal data, photos, or biometric data.

As far as CBS Caribbean Netherlands is aware, there is no evidence that such individuals are active on Bonaire. The message has been circulating for some time and has also been spread in other countries and parts of the Caribbean. The content is constantly adapted to the local situation.

This is how CBS actually works

CBS Caribbean Netherlands is currently conducting various statistical surveys among households and businesses. If you have been selected for a survey:

- you will receive an invitation or announcement in advance;

- CBS employees may contact you or visit you;

- they can always identify themselves with an official CBS identification card showing their name and photo.

CBS employees never ask for biometric data, such as fingerprints, and do not take photos of you or your identification document as part of a statistical survey.

Do you have doubts about the identity of someone claiming to work on behalf of CBS? If so, do not provide personal details until you have verified their identity.
