BONAIRE (KRALENDIJK) - Criminal exploitation can begin with something that seems completely harmless. Someone may use what you want, miss or need to draw you in. Everyone can be influenced. If you know what can influence you, you will notice sooner when someone tries to take advantage of it.
Out of the Grip 1.0 was an awareness campaign for students of Scholengemeenschap Bonaire (SGB), that took place on Friday 21 August 2026. More than 650 young people were encouraged to think about influence and criminal exploitation.
After the campaign, two people with lived experience and partner organisations handed out leaflets on the school grounds. They also spoke with students about the issue and what young people can do when something does not feel right.
Talk about it at home too: what can influence you, when does something not feel right and who can you turn to? Are you worried? Talk to someone you trust. For support, call Bureau Slachtofferhulp (Victim assistance office) on 717 6181. You can report concerns anonymously to KPCN on 9310. In case of immediate danger, call 911.
