Tonight through Sunday evening: Cloudy and breezy with scattered showers, some of which could be heavy and a risk of thunder.

SURFACE WINDS: 
Tonight through Sunday evening: East-northeast to east-southeast with a moderate to fresh breeze of 15 to 24 miles per hour, and occasional higher gusts.

SYNOPSIS: 

An approaching tropical wave will bring scattered showers and possible thunder to the local region. Some of these showers could be heavy at times and may cause street-flooding. Residents and users of areas prone to flooding are advised to be vigilant.

Seas have increased slightly, and will remain rough until Monday night. Therefore, small craft operators and sea bathers should continue to exercise caution.

STATE OF THE SEA:  Moderate to rough            WAVES/SWELLS: 6 to 9 feet

SPECIAL FEATURE: A strong tropical wave located east of the Lesser Antilles is moving rapidly westward. During the next few days development should be slow to occur. However, this system will bring showers and gusty winds to the region.

The system has a low chance (30%) of development over the next 48 hours. The St. Maarten Meteorological Department will monitor the progress of this system.

OUTLOOK through Monday evening: Generally cloudy and breezy with isolated showers.
