SURFACE WINDS: 
Tonight through Tuesday evening: East to northeast with a light to gentle breeze of 04 to 12 miles per hour, becoming variable and calm at times.

SYNOPSIS: 

Weak instability and available low level moisture will account for cloudy periods and possible isolated showers across the local area during this forecast period.  
Additionally, a deteriorating trend in sea condition is expected from tomorrow.

STATE OF THE SEA: Slight to moderate               WAVES/SWELLS: 3 to 6 feet

SPECIAL FEATURES:  
At 5 pm, Tropical Storm Karl was located about 790 miles east of St. Maarten. Karl is moving towards the west-northwest at 12 mph with maximum sustained winds near 40 mph. This system is forecast to pass north of the Lesser Antilles on Wednesday. Residents are advised to keep updated on its progress.

Tropical Depression 13 forms west-southwest of Cape Verde Islands. It is moving toward the west near 12 mph and this motion is expected to continue through tonight.  A turn toward the west-northwest is forecast to occur on Tuesday or Wednesday.

The Meteorological Department of St. Maarten will continue to monitor the progress of these systems.
