Tonight through Thursday evening: Partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated showers, some of which could be heavy and the chance of isolated thunderstorms.

SURFACE WINDS:
Tonight through Thursday evening: Westerly to southerly with a light to gentle breeze of 04 to 10 miles per hour, becoming variable and calm at times.
SYNOPSIS:
Abundant low level moisture and instability combined with favorable upper level conditions will continue to produce cloudy periods and isolated showers, some of which could be heavy, with the chance for isolated thunderstorms during this forecast period.
Sea conditions will be moderate, at least through tomorrow, with waves peaking near 7 feet, especially along the eastern and northern coasts. Small craft operators and sea bathers should exercise caution.
STATE OF THE SEA: Slight to Moderate WAVES/SWELLS: 4 to 7 feet
SPECIAL FEATURES:
At 5 pm, Tropical Depression Karl was located about 335 miles northeast of St. Maarten. This depression is moving toward the northwest near 12 mph. Maximum sustained winds remain near 35 mph with higher gusts. Some strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours as it continues to pass north of the Lesser Antilles.
Bands of moisture and instability associated with this system could generate cloudiness and shower activity with the chance of isolated thunderstorms across the local region. Residents are advised to keep updated on its progress.
Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Lisa located in the eastern tropical Atlantic, is struggling due to persistent wind shear . This system is moving toward the northwest at 07 mph. Its maximum sustained winds have decreased to 45 mph.
The Meteorological Department of St. Maarten will continue to monitor the progress of these systems.
