HYSOP ROAD - On Tuesday September 16th at approximately 10.20 p.m. several police patrols were sent to a residence on Hysop road to investigate a case involving the severe ill-treatment and threatening of a female victim.

The victim with initials E.F.H. (39) had already filed an official report with the Detective department and when she returned home was again attacked and being beaten by her companion. On the scene the investigating officers encountered a very serious situation at which time they saw the victim being threatened by the suspect with initials C.A.G.E. (36) with a large kitchen knife.

In order to force the suspect to drop the knife, one officer pulled his fire-arm and ordered the suspect do so. The officers succeeded in disarming the suspect; however he started resisting heavily against his arrest. The officers managed to overpower the suspect and restrained him.

He was arrested on the spot and taken to the Philipsburg Police Station where he remains in custody for further investigation. The victim who was clearly traumatized and severely beaten was treated on the scene by paramedics and then taken to the Sint Maarten Medical Center for further treatment.

The knife that was used to threaten the victim was also confiscated for further investigation. (Contributed Police Force Sint Maarten)
