ST. MAARTEN HEINEKEN REGATTA CELEBRATES 35TH ANNIVERSARY WITH NEW LOOK

PHILIPSBURG - In celebration of its 35th anniversary taking place March 5 - 8, 2015, the world-famous St. Maarten Heineken Regatta (www.heinehenregatta.com), revamped its image with the launch of a fresh and revitalized website and redesigned logo.

Easy to navigate and highlighted with Regatta images, the website provides users with a glimpse of the event's exciting dynamics, showcasing the sailing and party aspects while delivering essential information. In addition to race documents, details and photos, users also have access to everything needed to plan their stay in St. Maarten including hotel and marina accommodations and boat and car rentals.

The website launch coincides with the Regatta's new and improved house style and logo, designed to give the event a clear visual identity as it celebrates 35 years of "Serious Fun!"

"It all started with a concept based on a grid, a graphic representation of the rigging on a yacht to establish a nautical feel," said Michele Korteweg, director of the Annual St. Maarten Heineken Regatta. "The website design portrays both sailing and partying, day and night, showing the 24/7 dynamics of the event," she continued.

"In-line with this concept, a logo was designed to include the grid in the sail. The logo is progressive, modern, elegant and clean, communicating a clear message: Sailing in St. Maarten," added Korteweg.

With many participants arriving just days before the event, the new website will prove to be an essential tool in accommodating participants of the Regatta as they prepare for the races online.

"It is a very exciting time as we celebrate 35 years of the world-renowned St. Maarten Heineken Regatta," said Marla Chemont, Interim Director of Marketing for the St. Maarten Tourist Bureau.  "This anniversary offers the perfect opportunity to introduce the Regatta's new look with a website that illustrates everything the island has to offer participants and travelers alike," she said.

The St. Maarten Heineken Regatta is an annual competition featuring exciting entertainment, musical performances and parties that have attracted thousands of sailors and enthusiasts to the island over the years.  The actual competition consists of round-the-buoys contests and point-to-point destination races against the backdrop of St. Maarten's breathtaking coastal views.

One of the most attractive aspects of the St.Maarten Heineken Regatta is its location.  Tropical temperatures year round and favorable trade winds have been a lure for sailors for centuries, and race organizers expect 2015 will be no different. Sailors and boating enthusiasts from around the world are set to descend upon the island by air and sea to compete against some of the best sailing teams from around the globe.
