SINT MAARTEN (POND ISLAND) TelEm Group is demonstrating its appreciation to 420 workers at the St. Maarten Medical Center, many of whom are on the front line when it comes to protecting the island from the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

The token of appreciation came in the form of free mobile credits for staff who are TelEm Group mobile customers and free sim cards with the same amount of credit for SMMC staff who are not currently TelEm Group customers.

TelEm Group Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), Mr, Michiel Parent delivered the package of credits to SMMC Head, Human Resources, Mr. Harlec Doran, Tuesday, during a controlled handing-over ceremony that observed the safety protocols of social distancing and hand sanitizing.

The packages will be distributed safely to staff members by the Human Resources department during the course of today (Tuesday).

According to Mr. Parent, even though companies like TelEm Group and other business that provide essential services remain open to the general public and the St. Maarten community, and while steps are being taken everywhere to keep the community safe, the true people who are keeping us safe are the medical professionals on the island.

“We really appreciate what these health professionals are doing and want them to know that TelEm Group recognizes their efforts,” said Mr. Parent.

Head, Human Resources at SMMC, Mr. Harlec Doran, said, as an organization, SMMC staff and management are appreciative and grateful for the gesture coming from corporate colleagues.

“Management and staff have expressed sentiments of gratitude and have stated that they will use the credits to maintain contact with their families and loved-ones curing this serious time,” added Mr. Doran.
