SAINT-MARTIN (MARIGOT) - The Guadeloupe Regional Health Agency, Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy and the Collective Prevention Service (CPS) of Sint-Maarten's Public Health Department, have been working in recent weeks on a joint strategy, the Prefecture announced in a press statement on Thursday.
According to the press statement, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) health cooperation strategy is based on four axes: - Epidemiological monitoring of new cases of Covid-19 on the basis of similar criteria and regular exchanges in the form of bi-weekly meetings between the territorial directorate of the ARS and CPS; - Identical screening strategies for suspected Covid-19 patients.
All persons suspected due to suggestive symptoms will be systematically screened by PCR test in the same way on both sides. - Case investigations will be harmonized with ongoing exchanges to monitor contact cases on both sides of the island and thus prevent the emergence of new chains of transmission of the virus.
The reception of travellers on the island is the subject of discussions. The conditions for arrival in Saint-Martin, subject to the current national recommendations, will be the subject of constant exchange and consistency with Sint-Maarten.
This work will lead to the signing in the coming days of a technical arrangement between the LRA and the Government of Sint-Maarten to maintain cooperation in the health field in order to continue the joint fight against the coronavirus epidemic.
