Continuation Plenary session of Parliament about opening of the school year per August 10 and St. Maarten Students abroad

PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten - The House of Parliament will sit in a Plenary Public Session on Wednesday.

The Public meeting which was adjourned on Wednesday, August 6, 2020 will be reconvened on Wednesday at 14.00 hrs.; in a virtual setting. The Minister of Education, Culture, Youth and Sports will be in attendance.

The agenda points are:

  1. Decisions regarding the opening of the school year 2020/2021 per August 10, 2020 and the preparedness of schools to start the schoolyear.
  2. St. Maarten students abroad in general and those traveling to the Netherlands this week in particular (IS/1093/2019-2020 dated August 3, 2020)

This meeting was requested by MP S.A. Wescot-Williams, MP M.D. Gumbs and MP C.A. Buncamper.

Due to measures taken to mitigate the coronavirus (COVID-19), the House of Parliament is only allowing persons with an appointment to enter the Parliament building.

The parliamentary session will be held virtually and will be carried out live on St. Maarten Cable TV Channel 115, via SXM GOV radio FM 107.9, via Pearl Radio FM 98.1 www.pearlfmradio.sx, via the internet www.sxmparliament.org, and Parliament’s Facebook page: Parliament of Sint Maarten
