SINT MAARTEN (PHILIPSBURG) - The St. Maarten Carnival Development Foundation (SCDF) announced over the weekend that a record number of people have registered for a Carnival 2023 Season Pass. With registration closing on December 1, a record 2,206 registrants has been recorded. The previous record was for Carnival's 50th anniversary in 2019 with 1,763.

Though not all registrants is expected to actually purchase the pass in the end, the number is a positive sign for the festival. "It speaks to the energy and excitement people have for Carnival, the first normal Carnival we will have since 2019, and the confidence people have in our Carnival product," President of the SCDF Edwardo Radjouki said.

Radjouki also revealed that registration for booths was also high with almost 200 registrants vying for a spot in Carnival Village. "This is also a good sign but it is always a challenge for us. The Village only has 69 booths and the fact that there are 10 booths still not repaired since hurricane Irma makes the challenge even bigger and obviously cuts into the revenue of Carnival," he said.

The foundation opened a temporary office venue on Saturday December 3 and began accepting payment for Carnival 2023 Season Passes. The office on Illidge Road (behind the former WIB branch) will be open every Saturday from 10am until 2pm.

Season Passes for Carnival 2023, which affords the holder all access entry from April 14 to May 3, begin at US $250 from December 1, 2022 until February 1, 2023. The price for the pass increases to US $300 from February 1 to April 1, 2023 and then finally to US $400 from April 1 onwards.

The pass has to be paid in full in cash or via bank wire transfer. Wiring information can be found on Carnival's Facebook page or can be obtained by emailing This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

"We would like to thank everyone for the faith and confidence they continue to show in St. Maarten's Carnival product. It is always very encouraging to see the numbers keep going up which signifies great interest in Carnival. We anticipate an excellent Carnival 2023," Radjouki concluded.
