MPC group of VWO 5 students learned a lot from exchange visit in Germany

SINT MAARTEN (SOUTH REWARD) - On Monday October 23, one day later than planned due to Storm Tammy, the students from Milton Peters College (MPC) VWO 5 and their two (2) guiding teachers returned from their exchange visit to the Netherlands and Germany, tired but content.

The students stated that they had learned a lot. Some had never been to Europe before and a group trip with school requires more responsibility and thinking along with the teachers than they normally have to do when they go on a trip with their parents.

There was a small incident with the trains, and this taught them a valuable lesson about public transportation in Europe. They visited various interesting studies at the University of Amsterdam and received more insight into what they would like to do after high school and what not.

Three students from St Maarten, currently studying in Amsterdam, painted a clear picture of their study life in the Netherlands. After a long train ride from Amsterdam to Munster the group was warmly welcomed by the students and teachers from Anne Frank Real Schule.

During their three days stay in Germany, they visited Munster, Ahaus, the palace of Ahaus, a waste management plant and participated in the regular lessons of the Anne Frank Realschule in the mornings.

An IT lesson with a robot that speaks German and English was especially interesting. They thanked their German host families for allowing them to get a small peak into German family life and then boarded the train back to Amsterdam.

A bit cold and longing for home they received the unwelcome news of their flight being cancelled, due to storm Tammy. But they all agreed that this has made them stronger and better prepared for when they will start their tertiary study in the Netherlands in 1.5 years’ time.
