Sint Maarten Police Force Issues Urgent Warning to Carnival Revelers

SINT MAARTEN (GREAT BAY) - With the highly anticipated opening Carnival Jump-up approaching on Thursday, April 18th, 2024, the Sint Maarten Police Force is urging all participants to prioritize safety and responsible behavior during this festive occasion.

In light of the upcoming event, the Police Force emphasizes the following crucial points:

  1. Compliance with general Safety Measures: All revelers are mandated to adhere strictly to safety protocols outlined by authorities. These measures are implemented to safeguard the well-being of all attendees and ensure an enjoyable experience for everyone.
  1. Prohibition of Masks: It is strictly prohibited to wear masks during the Carnival Jump-up festivities. This directive is essential for the identification and security of individuals present at the event.
  1. Zero Tolerance Policy on Drugs and Weapons: The possession of illegal substances or weapons will not be tolerated under any circumstances. The Police Force will enforce stringent measures to deter and apprehend offenders, ensuring the safety and tranquility of the celebrations.
  1. Vendor Guidelines: Beverage vendors are requested to refrain from selling drinks in bottles during the parades. This precautionary measure aims to mitigate potential hazards and maintain cleanliness throughout the duration of the festivities.

In the event that the KPSM realizes that the general safety of the public cannot be guaranteed, the possibility exists to halt any of the Carnival Jump-up.
