Soualichi Stories Season 3 Set to Launch on October 21

SINT MAARTEN (GREAT BAY) - The Foresee Foundation is proud to announce the launch of the highly anticipated third season of Soualichi Stories on October 21, bringing new and traditional narratives to life within the community.
This season promises to continue the tradition of blending oral storytelling with contemporary themes and features another diverse cast of local storytellers. The third season will introduce exciting new voices and stories like “Tale of Kushobi” and “Put Me Back!” Seasoned narrators like Claudette Forsythe-Labega and Papa Umpo will also return, adding their unique flair to the season’s storytelling lineup.
"Bring Back My Comb," the first episode in Season 3, about a young girl named Amina, written by Ralph Cantave, comes at a time when conversations about hair discrimination in schools are gaining momentum in the community. This has shown the project’s significant growth since it’s inception; evolving into a platform that addresses contemporary experiences, bridges the generational gap while educating and entertaining both local and international audiences.
Jose Sommers, the Director of Foresee Foundation mentioned “I believe the diverse stories this season will resonate deeply with audiences touching on themes of identity and heritage. We have also been conducting workshops at afternoon school programs and for will do so for teachers in order to bring the project into the classroom and directly to students.”
Soualichi Stories is an initiative of the Foresee Foundation, which aims to preserve and promote St. Maarten’s rich cultural and oral history. This season has been made possible by funding from the Fonds voor Cultuur Participatie – Memorial Year Slavery Fund, which supports initiatives that connect communities with their ancestral roots and shared histories. Foresee Foundation also thanks het Cultuurfonds Caribisch Gebied and UNESCO SXM for funding the first and second seasons respectively.
In line with its goal of making the island's rich oral traditions accessible to all, Soualichi Stories will also launch an interactive e-book that compiles the most cherished tales from the series. This digital format, set to be released soon and activities.
Foresee Foundation is excited about the return of Soualichi Stories for its third season, emphasizing the importance of connecting the past with the present.
The third season promises to captivate audiences with its mix of historical, cultural, and personal narratives, ensuring that the legacy of storytelling remains alive and relevant in St. Maarten.
