SINT MAARTEN (GREAT BAY) - The Rotary Club of St. Martin Sunrise, in collaboration with Voice of The Community Foundation, is proud to sponsor a breakfast program at St. Maarten Vocational Training School (SMVTS). This initiative aims to provide students with nutritious meals to support their learning and overall well-being.
Recognizing the importance of proper nutrition in academic success, this partnership seeks to ensure that students start their school day with the energy and focus they need to excel. The breakfast program will offer healthy and balanced meals, fostering a positive school environment where students can thrive.
“Our mission is to invest in the well-being of our students, knowing that a healthy meal is a foundation for a productive day,” said Jharna Dialani, President of the Rotary Club of St. Martin Sunrise. “Through this sponsorship, we are reinforcing our commitment to education and community development.”
The Voice of The Community Foundation was represented by Ms. Sjamira D. M. Roseburg, who played a pivotal role in coordinating the foundation’s involvement in the initiative. “We are proud to collaborate on this meaningful project that directly benefits the students of SMVTS. Proper nutrition is essential for learning, and we are dedicated to making a positive impact,” said Ms. Roseburg.
The children who receive the breakfast are selected by the school officials. The school is responsible for coordinating the daily breakfast distribution to the students and submits a quarterly report, which will include: the number of children who received breakfast, the menu for each day/week, bottlenecks/challenges they experienced, and measures taken to overcome challenging situations.
The program is set to benefit numerous students at SMVTS by reducing food insecurity and promoting better academic performance. The Rotary Club of St. Martin Sunrise and Voice of the Community Foundation are dedicated to ensuring that every student has access to the essential resources they need for success.
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed by representatives of all parties involved stipulating the commitment of executing and maintaining the Breakfast Program.
