American University of the Caribbean seeking Increased Security in Maho and for Students

PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten –on Friday July 11, 2014, the Minister of Justice the Honorable Dennis Richardson met with the Chief Security Officer from DeVry Education Group; Mr. John Kroen and the Director of Safety and Security at the American University of the Caribbean (AUC); Mr. Michael Kanaby.
The meeting concerned cooperation between the University and the Ministry of Justice’s police force to enhance security in the Maho area, also in the interest of the protection of the AUC students. The meeting was fruitful and resulted in several arrangements in this regard. The AUC representatives congratulated the Police Force on their high level of professionalism and their willingness to accommodate the need for increased safety.
Present at the meeting were representatives of Justice Ministry responsible for the different topics of consultation; Mr. Peter de Witte (Police Chief), Mr. Udo Aron (Dir. Immigration and Border Protection Services), Community Police Officer Mr. E.S. Josepha and Mr. Ron Van Der Veer (Dir. of the Ministry of Justice’s Cabinet).
