Parliamentary Delegations Represents Country in Curacao for Emancipation Day

SINT MAARTEN/CURACAO - On Tuesday, July 1, and Wednesday, July 2, 2025, a delegation of the Parliament of Sint Maarten consisting of President of Parliament, Mrs. Sarah A. Wescot-Williams, and Members of Parliament, Mr. Viren V. Kotai, Ms. Ludmila N.L. de Weever, Mr. Egbert J. Doran and Mr. Lyndon C.J. Lewis, represented the Parliament of Sint Maarten at events surrounding Emancipation Day and the Curaçao National Anthem & Flag Day “Dia di Himno i Bandera di Kòrsou” on Curaçao.

Members of Parliament, Ms. Sjamira D.M. Roseburg and Mr. Raeyhon A. Peterson, who were also in Curaçao, also attended the events.

On July 1, the delegation participated in activities surrounding preparations for Flag Day and attended an event at Fort Amsterdam to commemorate Emancipation Day.

On July 2, 2025, the delegation attended a Solemn Public meeting of the Parliament of Curaçao at 6.45 hrs., during which all Faction Leaders and the President of the Parliament of Curaçao were given the opportunity to address the people of Curaçao on this day.

This Solemn meeting was followed by the official flag-raising ceremony for the Curaçao flag, along with musical and cultural performances at Brión Square.
