Beyond Kultura is looking for Schools and Reading volunteers for its BKEF reading program 2025

SINT MAARTEN (GREAT BAY) - The Beyond Kultura Events Foundation (BKEF) will start its reading program in schools from September-December of the new school year 2025.
At the start of the school year, the books of ‘Martino, the Salty story of a Slave boy’ (bilingual Dutch/English) by author Loekie Morales and ‘From Slavery to Freedom’ by several Kingdom wide authors, which is distributed to the primary schools in Sint Maarten for extensive reading purposes.
The aforementioned BKEF reading program 2025 applies exclusively to the FO schools in the Windward Islands and takes place between September and December 2025. It is also possible to use the Freckle Bunch-Tropical Shelter book, which serves to understand the stories about the siblings Moraal better.
There is room for a couple of schools to subscribe to our reading program, and get a story reader to visit the school 10 times, and conduct nine interactive readings with max 2 classes.
The last or 10th session will be a SHOW session, whereby the students show their artworks, raps, poems, paintings etc. to the class.
For this reading program for FO schools, Beyond Kultura is looking for enthusiastic readers who will be paid per hour. Schools get the readings free of charge. We are looking for schools as well to participate with max 2 groups/classes.
With this reading program, the students will delve deeper into the lives of the Moral children in The Freckle Bunch or in the Slavery Stories of said books.
These broad themes are important for stimulating concentration, listening skills and building empathy in young people. That is the conviction of Loekie Morales of Beyond Kultura Events Foundation.
Reading volunteers must be at least 18 years old. Readers and schools can show their interest by calling or writing BKEF before sept 12. First come, first serve.
