Perpetual Plastics Marks Two-Year Anniversary with Artisanal Market and Community Celebration

SINT MAARTEN (COLE BAY) — Perpetual Plastics, a plastic recycling social workspace operating under the EPIC Foundation, is proud to celebrate its second anniversary in conjunction with International Plastic Free Day. In just two years, the organization has established itself as a cornerstone of environmental, social, and educational impact on the island.

Since opening its doors, Perpetual Plastics has processed over 2,200 kilos of High-Density Polyethylene (Type 2/HDPE) and Polypropylene (Type 5/PP) plastics, transforming waste into beautiful, useful, and reusable products using the internationally recognized open-source Precious Plastic method.

The workspace has educated more than 2,800 youth and hosted seven international interns, along with over 50 local high school students fulfilling their community service hours.

Beyond recycling, the organization has become a vital community resource. Perpetual Plastics hosts clients from the Sister Basilia Center, and the Guided Living program, of the White and Yellow Cross Care Foundation twice weekly, as well as the Mental Health Foundation once weekly.

It also maintains working relationships with the Labour Department and The Court of Guardianship, providing meaningful opportunities for individuals with a distance to the traditional labour market.

The organization's reach extends to schools, businesses, hotels, restaurants, marinas, and more — all contributing their plastics to keep waste out of landfills and nature. The workspace currently operates with multiple moulds capable of producing approximately 25 different items, and has hosted numerous workshops for team building, tourism experiences, and community get-togethers — welcoming local residents, tourists, and even cruise line staff alike.

Perpetual Plastics has also participated in international training exchanges with like-minded organizations on Curaçao, in the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom, and has been an active organizer of community, hiking and mangrove clean-ups, as well as hosting and attending artisanal markets across the island.

"Our impact has greatly been made thanks to your involvement," said the Perpetual Plastics team. "For this, we have a reason to celebrate."

The team extends its heartfelt gratitude to all volunteers — those who have shown up consistently over the years and those who gave even an hour — as well as to all local, regional, and international funders and donors whose support has made all this work possible.

The public is warmly invited to join the festivities, which will include:

*An artisanal market featuring local vendors offering arts, crafts, and edible goods

*An art exhibition presented by the Let's ACT! after-school program (made possible by the Culture Participation Fund)

*Free crafting sessions led by guest artists, consisting of:

*A clay masterclass for 8 registered duos

*An upcycled cloth masterclass for 8 registered duos
