SINT MAARTEN (SIMPSON BAY) - The Police Force of Sint Maarten (KPSM) wishes to clarify information surrounding an incident that occurred on Thursday involving a Member of Parliament, the owner of a business establishment in Simpson Bay, and a male individual.
Following police intervention and subsequent review of the circumstances surrounding the matter, it was established that the incident stemmed from a disagreement and bad behavior at a restaurant located in Simpson Bay.
Preliminary information indicates that the male individual had been requested to leave the establishment by both the owner and the Member of Parliament.
The individual reportedly declined to comply with the request and was later escorted from the premises.
Subsequently, the individual expressed dissatisfaction regarding the manner in which he was handled during the incident and indicated his intention to file an official complaint with police.
Due to the nature of the matter and the circumstances involved, the Acting Prosecutor was informed and intervened in the situation. After discussions with all parties involved and a review of the facts available at that time, the matter was further addressed.
At the conclusion of the intervention, all parties involved agreed to separate and no further incidents were reported.
KPSM reminds the public that police remain committed to addressing all complaints brought to its attention in a professional and impartial manner while ensuring that all matters are reviewed based on the facts and circumstances surrounding each case.
