During the weekend of June 4, 2026, through June 6, 2026, Customs officers conducted a series of extensive controls at key entry points across the island, reinforcing the department's mission to safeguard the community, strengthen border security, and combat illegal activities.

Comprehensive harbor inspection

The first operation took place at the harbor, where Customs officers carried out a 100% inspection of all inbound containers aboard a selected vessel. This comprehensive control was conducted to ensure compliance with customs regulations and to detect any prohibited, undeclared, or illicit goods entering the country.

Surprise control at Princess Juliana International Airport

On the morning of Saturday, June 5, 2026, Customs officers conducted a surprise control at Princess Juliana International Airport, focusing on several randomly selected airport workers.

During this operation, one individual was found to be in possession of an illegal object prohibited under the Weapons Ordinance. Appropriate measures were immediately taken in accordance with the applicable laws and procedures.

The Customs Department wishes to emphasize that these surprise controls form an essential part of its security strategy and will continue to be carried out on a regular basis.
