Historic AICESIS Meeting in Curaçao Marks Inspiring Conclusion of SER Presidency

CURACAO (WILLEMSTAD) – Recently, a historic event took place at the Renaissance Wind Creek Curaçao Resort: The Statutory General Assembly of the International Association of Economic and Social Councils and Similar Institutions (AICESIS). The conference brought together delegations from more than fifty countries, including policymakers and representatives of international organizations, and marked a highlight in Curaçao’s international presence within multilateral cooperation and policy dialogue. The hybrid meeting marked the conclusion of Curaçao’s presidency of AICESIS, the global organization uniting over seventy economic and social councils. After two years of intensive collaboration, diplomacy, and knowledge exchange, Curaçao officially handed over the presidency to Greece, with a heartfelt promise to continue offering support wherever needed. Loekie Morales participates in Siman Ban Lesa 2025

SINT MAARTEN/CURACAO - Saturday 26 October the Biblioteka Nashonal Korsou (BNK) had its grand opening of the children book week, in Curaçao. Loekie Morales is one of the nearly 20 authors invited to this yearly Reading, Storytelling and Acting event. Some storytellers, but mainly authors, have been visiting schools and brought their written stories to life. The aim is to stimulate children to READ more, which enhances their vocabulary, their imagination, way of expressing themselves and much more. This year nearly 40 schools have been participating. SINT MAARTEN (GREAT BAY) - On Thursday, October 30, 2025, University of St. Martin (USM) students, enrolled in the Caribbean Academic Foundation Year program (CAFY), accompanied by their instructor and faculty staff, visited the House of Parliament as part of their Social Science course. The first item on the program was a presentation by the acting Secretary General of Parliament, Mrs. Jessica Duzong-Weeks, LL.M, outlining the role and responsibilities of Parliament. This was followed by a mini quiz based on the information shared during the presentation. The Ramesh Manek End Polio Now Walkathon: A Community United for a Global Cause

SINT MAARTEN (GREAT BAY) - The Rotary Club of Sint Maarten Mid Isle proudly hosted its annual Ramesh Manek End Polio Now Walkathon on Saturday, October 25th, in observance of World Polio Day (October 24th). The event brought together approximately 85 participants, including special guest District 7020 Governor William “Bill” Aiken, in a powerful show of solidarity to eradicate polio worldwide.
