SINT MAARTEN (GREAT BAY) - From the 17th till the 27th of May, three staff members from the Dutch Foundation for Literature will visit the six islands in the Caribbean part of the Kingdom: Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao, Saba, Sint Eustatius and Sint Maarten. During this visit, the Dutch Foundation for Literature will organise networking events for literary creators and organisations. Here, our staff will highlight the grant schemes and writers, translators and literary organisations will have the opportunity to ask questions. This work visit follows a previous trip of the fund. SMYC Raffle & Silent Auction Raises $14,500 for Youth Sailing Programs

SINT MAARTEN (SIMPSON BAY) – “It is with immense pride and gratitude that we thank those who came out for SMYC’s Raffle & Silent Auction, and to the local businesses and community members who donated prizes,” the Sint Maarten Yacht Club (SMYC) said in a statement. Held on Saturday, April 25 on the club’s dock, the event started at 4:30 and wrapped up around 8:00 pm after a beautiful Caribbean sunset. Over 100 raffle prizes and silent auction items were given out and bid on, which made the night very special for all involved. The theme for the vaccine-preventable disease campaign is, “Your decision makes a difference. Immunization for all.” This year, the campaign is once again aligned with the Disease Elimination Initiative, which aims to accelerate the elimination of more than 30 communicable diseases and related conditions by 2030, 11 of which are vaccine-preventable diseases. The meeting which took place during her recent working visit to Aruba was to focus on practical steps, institutional frameworks, and potential partnerships with cultural and heritage organizations.
